Prepping for Three Course Story: An Exhibition at Oui Madame

As autumn descends upon London and the long hazy days of summer splendour are replaced with hunkering down on grizzly wet nights, it seems more prescient a time than ever to remember those who are without shelter or reliable respite from the harshness of this turbulent city.

The Alt Entertainer is therefore proud to invite you to accompany us to A Three Course Story, an opportunity to hear the voices from just a small portion of the more than 50,000 for whom a safe and warm home is inaccessible.

A joint partnership by the North London Action for the Homeless (NLAH) and the creator of the fantastic blog, A Three Course Story, the evening will consist of Tapas food and drink being served with speakers and a special guest. There will also be an opportunity to purchase some fine prints with proceeds going towards fundraising for the awe-inspiring work the NLAH and its volunteers provide.

That work is to provide food and a haven for anyone in need of it twice weekly at St Paul’s Church in West Hackney. What makes their work so exceptional is the time and attention each volunteer gives to the service users, asking them questions about their lives and giving them a chance to tell their story.

These stories, each as fascinating and unique as the last are documented in the Three Course Story blog. Tales of adventure, travels and unfortunate circumstances abound, from the wandering Stevie to the opera loving Patricia, providing a unique glimpse into people’s lives you may never have thought to question.

The night promises to be an eye-opening journey into some of the biggest issues facing our society today; poverty, homelessness and the ever-widening gap between the have and have-nots. The very generous owners of the bar and restaurant Oui Madame on Stoke Newington High Street will be providing the venue, whilst Baking Bridges will be providing sumptuous food in collaboration with the equally philanthropic Print Club London to provide this prestigious event, don’t forget to book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Show your support at the event on Tuesday 1 October 2013 from  6:30 – 9pm at Oui Madame in Stoke Newington. Tickets can be purchased for £12 from
