Walter Mitty is a day dreamer, who can turn the dullest day into an action filled, animated adventure. As the film unfolds Walter’s make-believe moments become a reality as he must venture across choppy seas, escape an erupting volcano and climb the highest mountain to save both his own and his female colleague’s jobs.
This film offers breath taking cinematography, a storyline that will inspire every viewer in the room to get travel fever and some really well performed, genuine and feeling evoked acting from Ben Stiller (Walter Mitty), Kristen Wiig (Walter’s love interest – Cheryl Melhoff) and Sean Penn (Sean O’Connell).
Ben Stiller not only plays Walter Mitty astoundingly but also directs this stunning adaption of James Thurber’s classic story like a pro. This film boasts rich, vibrant colours and jaw dropping landscapes, and it leaves you feeling truly impressed and inspired for days after.
Although the film was the main attraction, where you have your experience is another important factor. This screening was held at the Lighthouse in Poole, which doesn’t just offer spacious comfy seating, but also offers a whole new kettle of fish of a screen. The sound was crisp, enough to immerse you head first into the film and the picture was probably the most still and crisp screening experience that I have ever had.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty comes highly recommended, alongside a future film screening at the cinema in the Lighthouse.
