Last month The Fresh Laces team hit Manchester for their 2nd annual lifestyle event and this year it was bigger, taking up the whole second floor of Harvey Nichols in Manchester, and featured even more hot designer sneakers.
Before exploring, I caught up with the creators of the event to find out how things were going…
It’s been a busy 2015 already and we’re only two months in. We’ve had three events so far and we have a permanent set up in Knightsbridge now.
When asking about deciding on the venue for the event, the organisers said…
Holding the event here at Harvey Nichols helps create foot traffic and allows the shoes to be shown alongside bigger brand names.
And foot traffic was certainly heavy. Flocks of trendy people smiled and chattered as they browsed the unique and one-off designs of the sneakers, hats, jewellery and artwork that were on sale. That wasn’t all that the event had on offer. Shoppers were kept entertained by live entertainment acts including 1Xtra’s monthly resident DJ Melody Kane, XO Man, an alternative music blending artist with support from Annie Mac and Mistajam, and Fresh laces resident DJ and scratch master, 10 Faces.
Wandering around, I was amazed to see how shoes could become wearable pieces of art. Being able to see the concept design on poster prints and screens and then seeing the finished product helped me to appreciate just how much work goes into creating stylish footwear.
I certainly had a lot of fun at the event and would recommend checking one out if you haven’t already. Here’s some of my highlights from the event.
