Welcome to The Alt Entertainer. We’re an online alternative entertainment magazine run by a team of quirky creatives who are passionate about music, lifestyle and the arts. Our team love nothing more than snapping away at a gig, sharing their thoughts on a show or filming the fun times at an expo. We vary in age, from 18-62, so you’re guaranteed variety! We believe that anyone, with the right kind of motivation and opportunity can develop into a great photographer, writer or videographer. That’s why we work with lots of different people, including those with mental illnesses, single parents and those who are long term unemployed.
We review, photograph and film the alternative and quirky – from expos, festivals and gigs all the way through to dance, film and sport. We also do the occasional interview – from a unique perspective!
Our creative journalists are the life and soul of The Alt Entertainer and all offer their personality and passion to the publication. Without their video, writing, photography and design skills we wouldn’t be as awesome!
History of The Alt Entertainer
Our Editor Michelle set up The Alt Entertainer in October 2012 during a spell of bad health whilst being in hospital. It was her passion for the weird and wonderful that helped her slowly improve her health and enable her to stop using a wheelchair. On her mission to discover the unexplored alternative and quirky London, Michelle got to work posting reviews of the things she loved.
When she was over the worst of her illness, Michelle advertised for creative volunteers and since then The Alt Entertainer has continued to expand in both readership and team size. Finding a niche and continuing to develop it with growth, has meant that The Alt Entertainer is now enjoyed in many countries including America, the U.K. and Japan.
In 2013 Michelle moved to Dorset where she has developed a second team of creative journalists and editorial awesomeness. As it stands the publication now has two main teams in London and Dorset, this is where the core editorial team resides, but we also have creative journalists contributing to The Alt Entertainer from all over the U.K.
Our aim for the future is to keep growing and sharing The Alt Entertainer love all around the world!
